This book is fantastic and a MUST read if you're in the MSP business. Whether you're just starting out or trying to switch over from the break / fix world (like the company I work for) this book is for you. I couldn't put it down and finished it over a 2 night span. Have since recommended to 2 other colleagues and both had the same reaction. Besides the book itself, which is amazing, Karl also has a number of helpful spreadsheets / docs that he references throughout the book available for download after you register your purchase.
This is a great book for someone wanting to start an MSP company. Just follow everything he says in the book and you'll be set!

Amazing book for IT consultants, really deep insights.
Let me start by saying that Managed Services in a Month (2nd edition) was really great. Karl's perspective helped me transform my computer repair business into a true managed service business. I read that book a dozen times. I bought the audio version of it to listen to in my car on my way to work, so I could repeat the message to myself.It was with great anticipation that I bought the 3rd edition Kindle version, as well as the audio version of the 3rd edition. I read it, I listened to it, and was greatly disappointed to find it contained almost no new material, no new ideas. I wanted to hear Karl's thoughts on the new MSP tools available, the different RMM's, the ticketing services (PSA's). But there wasn't any of that there. This isn't a bad book, it's just really almost completely the 2nd edition. I found nothing in here that was of any more use than the 2nd edition. A wasted purchase of a Kindle edition, a wasted audiobook. Even the woman who narrated the 2nd edition was a far better narrator than the guy who did the 3rd edition. I'd ask for my money back if I could!
This is the book to take you from dabbling in managed services offerings to a full embrace of this method of service delivery. The book covers everything from designing a pricing model to the actual delivery of services. The new update adds so much to the book that it is worth a read even if you have read the 2nd edition. And even if you are fully engaged in Managed Services delivery at this point, you are sure to pick up a nugget or two that makes then entire read worthwhile. To top it off, the lucid and concise prose and modern design of the book make for a quick read.
I highly recommend this book to any IT Professional who wants to further his/her business. I read the 2nd edition and began on the path to being an MSP following Karl's suggestions. It was slow at first, however I didn't follow all his direction but still managed to sign a few Managed clients. I then read the 3rd edition as soon as it came out and as it was more relevant to today's tech I began putting those practices into place and actually following Karl's guidance and things have been going well since. His procedures really do work. So far in the last few months we have signed 7 Managed Services Clients, we are streamlining our processes, writing our service agreements (btw, go buy his other book Service Agreements), and have found a renewed interest in growing our business. The future is bright. As Karl says, "Nothing Happens By Itself", but this book sure helps get you started!
I purchased this book after seeing Karl speak at an industry event. By following the guidelines in this book I was able to convert most of my biggest clients to a managed services plan. The book offers great advice and common pitfalls to avoid. The simple and concise step by step plan was easy to implement and has really helped to covert my roller coaster revenues to a stable predictable income stream. Thanks Karl!
