There is something fantastic about makingyour own Christmas Decorations.I bought this book because that was exactly whatI wanted to do.I am so glad I bought this book!I am sure I will be making things from the bookfor a long time to come.I have so many on my list to make I am sureI won't get them all finished for this Christmas.I also won't get them finished because everytimesomeone see's what I am making they wantsome for themselves.I have already made 3 shining star tree toppersand have requests for another 3 hooped reindeer.The designs have a classic look to them but withan up to date twist.Whether it's the colours or design used they areperfect for anyone's Christmas.Even if you are new to making your ownChristmas decorations you will be ableto use this book.Everything from the basic techniques toinformation on materials & tools.The embroidery stitches are clearly explainedand illustrated to help you on your way.There are clear instructions for each of the projects.The instructions are step-by-step and easyto understand.My only negative is there aren't any pictures of themaking process which I think would of helped.At the back of the book all the templates are supplied.You will need to resize and copy them to complete the projects.I can honestly say this has to be my favorite bookat the moment.I am sure it's one I'll be using for years to come!
I've yet to make any of the items in the book, but I've flipped through it several times and the directions seem very clear and easy-to-follow. I love that all of the patterns are in the very back, so I can take them to a copy store and have them enlarged to make templates. I don't have too much experience sewing, and while some of the projects involve sewing, there is a special section that shows you how to make the stitches and Ms. Sheldon also suggests using seam glue (in a way that doesn't make you feel inferior because of your sewing skills!).While some of the projects seem rather involved, there are several that are pretty simple or could be adjusted to make them easier for children (I would think first grade and up) to help with. I love this so much, I plan to look for more books by this author!
So many great patterns from designers I admire. I only wish the patterns were full size as I don't have access to a copier. I still rate a 5 stars though because it is a great book. I have all the books in this series now. I do lots of felt.
I bought this for my crafty mother for Christmas, who recently received a fully decked out, remodeled craft room from my dad for her birthday. It just so happened that she'd recently bought a boatload of felt on sale right before I gave her the book. Wow!
Our women’s church group found many fun things to consider making for our fall sale. Wish us success!
