FABULOUS . . . the jewelry is amazing. Personal comments from Elizabeth like having her speak to you directly of her love for these treasures and those associated with them. Many photos of her a bonus. Have wanted this book since it was published and thrilled to finally own it. You will laugh and cry while reading about how many of the pieces came to her. Some unbelievably expensive, others valued beyond price. I seem to remember when the book came out about her saying this was the closest she would come to talking about her love affairs. A lasting tribute of a great lady with a most generous and loving heart. I wonder where many of these jewels now reside . . .
This is a must-have for any Elizabeth Taylor fan. The photography is astounding, and the anecdotes and reminiscences of Ms. Taylor provide an invaluable glimpse into her life and personality. From the beautiful dust-jacket to the front- and end-papers to the lovely stories that accompany so many of the photographs, I am left with a feeling that Elizabeth Taylor was personally involved in all aspects of this book, and it's a tremendous gift to us that she was so willing to share photographs of her glorious jewelry collection with the world. A huge thank you to all who were involved in the production of this gem!
Be prepared to drool. Beautiful jewelry worn by a beautiful lady in fab pictures wearing fab clothes with fab people. It is a beautiful book. It is out of print and you have to take your chance with a very good used book found here on Amazon. My used book was in near perfect condition so I bought a second book to give to a friend. She’s going to love it. So will you!
I heard about this book on a segment on 60 Minutes and immediately went to order it. I am a bench jeweler myself and have my very own small fine jewelry business (Hush Fine Jewelry on Etsy) and have been having my own love affair with really great gemstones and jewelry creations since I was a little girl. Fascinating to read Liz Taylor's own stories of how she came to acquire (or be gifted) with each of the magnificent pieces she highlights in her book. And the photography is beyond outstanding. I did, however, find myself seriously wishing there could be a follow-up book by the creator/maker of each of the jewelry pieces where he/she would go into depth describing in detail the process involved in making each piece. But, alas, most of those designers are likely no longer with us.
This book is all it promises. Elizabeth Taylor owned beautiful extravagant jewelry and also some historic pieces. Wonderful stories to go along with superb photography.
This is a very fun book to read. Liz Taylor loved jewels and had a great attitude about them, knowing that one is a guardian of great jewels until they go to the next owner, whether they be real or paste, she loved it all. And we loved her!
I love this book. I had wanted it for so long and finally bought it for myself. I was not disappointed. Such a beautiful and well-done book. If I can't have Elizabeth's jewels this is the next best thing. I too have a "love affair with jewelry".
Wife loved this book, sadly the binding had completely come apart so I had to spend extra money to have it repaired. To see her happy face made the extra money worth it
